Course objectives
By the end of this program, participants will be able to:
- Understand key concepts of sleep physiology and sleep-related breathing disorders.
- Interpret diagnostic tools such as polysomnography, home sleep tests, and oximetry.
- Perform structured clinical examinations, including assessment of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
- Apply evidence-based Oral Appliance Therapy, including indications, patient selection, workflow, and management of side effects.
- Recognise upper airway function and dysfunction and understand ENT-based diagnostic and therapeutic options, including drug-induced sedation endoscopy.
- Integrate chronobiology, circadian factors, and behavioural aspects into clinical decision-making.
- Address legal, ethical, and administrative considerations in dental sleep medicine.
- Implement practical skills acquired through hands-on workshops, including bite registration, appliance delivery, and paediatric dental sleep medicine.
